17.1.3 HB410 Checklist The purpose of checklist is to inform districts of attendance configuration requirements that must be set up in StudentInformation in order to comply with HB410 requirements. The document will be updated as future releases occur.
17.1.3 Checklist HB410 Checklist Master Calendar Sub Calendar Exception Days Lunches Qualifiers Out of School Suspension School Absence page Absence Type Maintenance page
17.1.3 Checklist - Lunches Schools need to have this in place for a future release All students must have lunch indicated on their schedules so that when the student is out of the building or tardy over their lunch period, their “time allotted for lunch” will be excluded from the HB410 calculation When a student’s schedule does not include a Course Type of Lunch, when the student is out of the building or tardy over their lunch (e.g., during a Course Type of Study Hall), their “time allotted for lunch” will be included in the HB410 calculation as either an excused or an unexcused absence. Note: If you want to track both Study Hall and Lunch Course Types during the same period, administrators with the course override permissions can override the conflict and assign both to each student.
Lunches – Bell Schedule For schools that need to Bulk Assign Lunch courses Identify Lunch periods Add Time In/Out on the Bell schedule for each rotation day {Mon, Tues, Wed, etc.} Create courses [Type = Lunch} for appropriate periods during the day Create related course sections The Bulk assignment page can be used to assign groups of students to the appropriate lunches.

17.1.3 Attendance Qualifier – Late/Tardy Late/Tardy – existing qualifier will remain and will be used to record Tardys When no “Time In” is identified on the event a. Tardy will be identified b. No “time” will be counted against HB410 Threshold(s) When “Time In” is identified on the event b. “Time” will be counted against HB410 Threshold(s) Attendance reports need to be update to count Tardys as absences – where applicable [Time In] is entered [future release] ATTUPEMIS will include tardys as absences [future release]
17.1.3 Attendance Qualifier - Partial Partial – new qualifier must be used to enter absences that span from the AM to PM sections of the day (e.g., 9-1pm). You can also enter only AM or only PM absences with this qualifier but must specify the corresponding Time In and/or Time Out. 1. HB410 will calculated Partial events as absences [excused/unexcused] 2. Time In and/or Time Out need to be present [to record a “partial” day] 3. SIS Attendance reports will include time as an absence [future release] 4. ATTUPEMIS will be updated to count Partial Qualifiers as absences [future release] Note: Time In and/or Time Out need to be present. When neither have been entered the absent event will be ignored
When to use a Partial Qualifier Absence types with a “partial” qualifier can be used in conjunction with Late Tardys to record an absence that may span the AM and PM absence Example: Student is tardy 30 minutes and then have a doctor’s appointment and then need to leave between 10:00am and 1:30pm School day begin 8am – 3pm School day = 6 hours of instruction Student’s lunch = 30 and occurs during this period of absence Absent Event – Late/Tardy Time in 8:30 am Absent Event - Partial - excused Time Out = 10:00 am Time In = 1:30 pm Total time absent = 30 min + (3.5 - .5 [lunch]) = 3.5 hours absence
Another example of Partial Qualifier Absence types with a “partial” qualifier can also be used when a portion of a student’s absence is not excused Example: Student has a doctor’s appointment and needs to leave between 9:30am 12:00pm and their excuse is only from 9:30 – 11:00 am 2 absent events could be used Time out = 9:30am Time In 11:00am [excused] Time out = 11:00am Time In 12pm[unexcused] School day begin 8am – 3pm School day = 6 hours of instruction Student’s lunch = 30 and does not occur during this period of absence Total time absent = 1.5 [excused] + 1.0 [unexcused] = 2.5 hours absence
17.1.3 Update to Absence Type Maintenance Out of school Suspensions Will not count as an absence toward HB410 threshold(s) Absent types should be identified as unexcused SIS Attendance Reports will continue to include time as an absence Will continue to be included as an absence for ATTUPEMIS
