Regional Cooperations

What is a regional cooperation? Two or more local groups in close proximity with each other or within a certain region working together to organize events

Project cooperation vs. permanent cooperation Single events only No general agreement Often Area specific Permanent cooperation Signed agreement Cooperation in all areas Promotion, social events

What can you do? Scientific Events (Seminar, Conference, Law School) Study/Institutional Visits (bi-/multilateral) BBQ / Social Activities

Why should you have a regional cooperation? Working with several groups makes organisation easier More Human Resources available More chances for fundraising More potential partners Border groups: opportunity for international experiences Meet people from other universities/countries

Examples for regional cooperations H(you)MAN Rights Conference (Düsseldorf, Bonn, Cologne) Vienna Bratislava Law School ELSA Bavaria ELSA Westphalia (Baltic Sea Exchange) ELSA Frankfurt (Oder) and ELSA Slubice

Your Experiences / Ideas Did you have some sort of regional cooperation in your local group(s)? If you didn’t, what events could you imagine yourself organizing regionally? What should you keep in mind when organising an event within a regional cooperation?

Things to consider / Questions How do you assign the important positions (HOC, finances, fundraising, transport)? How do you organize the OC meetings? How do you keep OC’s in other cities motivated? How do you ensure good knowledge management? How do you distribute financial responsibilities and losses?
