Professor T. Madiba

Professor T.E. Madiba, the 2014 Rahima Dawood travelling fellow of the College of Surgeons of East, Central and Southern Africa (COSECSA) and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSE). This was one of the very first projects of the Rahima Dawood foundation and started in 1990 whereby an eminent surgeon is nominated on a rotational bsis by COSECSA and the RCSEd to travel throughout the region delivering surgical lectures on a selected topic. The topic is usually selected by COSECSA to touch on topics of local interest.

Professor Madiba is Professor and Head of the Department of Surgery at the University of KwaZulu - Natal in Durban, South Africa. He is also the Head of the Colorectal Unit in Durban and is an expert on diseases of the colon, rectum and anus. His main research interests are Sigmoid Volvulus and Colorectal Cancer.

Prof Madibe gave lectures in Burundi and Malawi before coming to Kenya Prof Madibe gave lectures in Burundi and Malawi before coming to Kenya. He visited UoN CHS on Tues 11 November, 2014 and presented his lecture on recent developments in colorectal surgery and his topic focused on Sigmoid Volvulous and Colorectal Cancer.

He presented his final oration in Dar Es Salaam at the annual AGM and Scientific conference for COSECSA He was escorted by Dr.Ndonga the Kenya COSECSA representative and Dr.Yusuf Khodwavwalla.
