Mind Maps Creative Note Taking

What is a Mind Map? It is note taking method in which a diagram is used to visually outline information in a bold, colorful, creative way. Let’s take a look...

Why use curved lines and bright colors? Because it is infinitely more interesting to your brain than straight lines written in black and white!

Now it’s your turn! Obtain the following supplies: A partner. A large piece of construction paper. Markers/colored pencils or pens. Fahrenheit 451 Dystopian Notes. “Whose Voice Guides Your Choice ?” chart. Your totally awesome brain!

Follow These Steps: Write the word Dystopia in the center of your paper and draw a little illustration that symbolizes it. Create the following main categories/branches: Dystopian Characteristics, Dystopian Control, Dystopian Hero, Propaganda. Now fill-in your branches with examples of each Dystopian feature that you identified.

Tips Be thorough. Have at least one example for each Dystopian feature in your notes. Identify page numbers for quotes. Use important key words. Add illustrations. Have fun with this!

Need to See an Example? The next two slides contain mind maps on the subjects of time management and health. Check them out to get ideas for how your map might look.
