Vocabulary Characterization February 2, 2016 Character Chart Pen/Pencil Novel

Learning Target: Students will give evidence explaining why Steinbeck uses specific diction to describe certain characters.

Character Analysis The author uses diction in order to create characters’ personality traits and patterns of behavior.

Character Analysis- Examination of a character’s thoughts, actions, and speech patterns You have 15 min to collect the following information: Character’s Name Character’s Word/Definition of word Use this word in a meaningful sentence Explain why Steinbeck uses this word to describe this character. Briefly describe who this character is in the story. How do they help or add to the conflict?
