Who is tour guide? Who is tour operator? Who is tour manager? What are their tasks?

Tour Guide A person who works for a travel and tour agency, who guides domestic and foreign tourists in the language of their choice for a fee, commission, or any lawful form of remuneration (Noya, 2016 & WFTGA, 2012)

Tasks of Tour guide Greeting and welcoming tourist groups Giving information/describing attractions Giving orientation/briefing Giving the information of local food Suggesting a place of interest to visit Explaining safety, rules, etiquette, and custom Closing and reporting tour activity Providing safety device Providing direction to tourist

Tour Operator A person whose job duties includes organizing tours. He typically combines tour and travel components to create a holiday package. He advertises and produces brochures to promote the products, holidays, and itineraries.

Tasks of Tour Operator Deciding how many holidays to sell each season Visiting resort to ascertain accommodation quality and suitability Liaising with coach operator, airlines, hoteliers, and resort rep Agreeing service levels, contracts, and costs Confirming costumer names with the airlines/hotels Producing brochures and internet-based information Providing pricing information Marketing holidays to clients via website, brochures, etc. Handling booking, invoicing, and issuing of tickets

Tour Manager A person who manages an itinerary on behalf of the tour operator ensuring the program is carried out as described in the tour operator’s literature and sold to the traveller/consumer and who gives local practical information.

Task of Tour Manager Checking tourist tickets and other relevant documents, seat allocation, etc. Helping with tourists’ passport and immigration issues Assisting tourists’ check-in and settle into their accommodation Making sure all travel arrangements run according to plan and that accommodations, meals, and service are satisfactory Ensuring that the tour running smoothly
