International Training Centre of the ILO Project’s objective To assist EOs of the chemical sector in developing strategies, tools and the skills needed to: Strengthen their role Engage in policy development Engage in social dialogue At national and EU level International Training Centre of the ILO

Overview 12 months (so far), 12 countries involved Over 30 different chemical industry representatives taking part International Training Centre of the ILO

International Training Centre of the ILO Overview Different type of activities: one 5-day training programme in Turin 3-day sub-regional seminars in Bratislava, Varna and Riga Internet platform with needs analysis, evaluations and knowledge-sharing Learning assessment, action planning, regular reviews, impact evaluation International Training Centre of the ILO

Some background comments The workshop’s agendas were very specific … EO’s effective management and connectivity with the EU level; Working meetings with action centred outcomes; Participants’ ownership was key; Difficult economic background; For some … the first time they discussed supra-national issues; For all … a unique opportunity to spend time together in a more “reflective mode”. International Training Centre of the ILO Lessons learned Project created space and structure to “step back and reflect” in a practical way Improved integration into EU policy issues and social dialogue Emerging view that tripartite concertation and influence on government can be improved through effective bipartite dialogue; There are issues that the social partners can work on independently.
