Family medicine rotation: NELIGH (ANTELOPE MEMORIAL HOSPITAL)

AMH hospital Most of your time will be spent in the hospital and the clinic, which is attached to the north side of the building. There are a few satellite clinics in nearby towns such as Tilden, Orchard, Elgin, and Clearwater. You will probably have a chance to spend some time at these sites as well.

Living accommodations -there is an apartment in the basement of the clinic that is available. It consists of a shower, bedroom, and living room area.

Things to know Your main preceptor at this site will be Dr. Dawson; however, all of the physicians and PAs at this site are willing to work with you and are good teachers. Be assertive about seeing hospital patients on rounds in the morning. The more you offer to help with various tasks, the more responsibility and freedom you will be given. The hospital is currently implementing a new EMR for clinic and the ER. If you offer your help with charting, most of the physicians will be eager to teach you the new system as they are in the process of learning it themselves. All of your meals are free in the cafeteria and the food is excellent. The physical therapy room is available after hours if you desire to run or get a workout in after clinic. Colonoscopies are usually scheduled for Monday mornings. Surgeries with Dr. Beutler are on Tuesdays. You can choose to shadow during these if something interesting is coming in. Cardiology clinic is also a good learning experience.
