LEIF Eriksson

About Leif Eriksson He was born circa 960A.D.- 970A.D. Sailed from Iceland to Greenland Got banned from Greenland Sailed to America, called it “Vinland” because of wild grapes Stayed in America for winter After winter, sailed back to Iceland He died circa 1020A.D. (He probably had a busy life.)

Fun facts !!! He visited North America about 500 years before Christopher Columbus 2. Once he got back to Iceland, he never went back to America 3. People believe that he landed in Labrador, or Newfoundland, both places in Canada. Eriksson only has a “K” in his name because there was no “C” in the Icelandic alphabet. Some people spell his last name differently. 6. Leif’s Icelandic name is Leifur.
