Engaging With Twitter

Tips for Creating Content Have a Voice and Be Authentic Incorporate Photos and Video Share Links with Commentary Use Action Verbs/Call to Action Superlatives Talk to Your Audience “How to” Posts Ask for Retweets Use Hashtags Judiciously Tweet 4-5 Times per Day Keep it Short: 100 Characters

Tips for Building a Following Tweet valuable content Ask questions and engage Participate in Chats/Live Tweet Events Be yourself Follow others Tailor your bio when at an event Use popular hashtags RT and mention other users

Tips for Using and Creating Hashtags Search for Hashtags others are using. Often one hashtag will lead you to others you might be interested in. Check out Trending Topics for popular hashtags Tweets are more successful if they use 1-2 hashtags, but no more. People make up hashtags all the time, but if you want it to stick, use it consistently and try to build a group that uses it.

Hashtags to Use/Follow #resist #TheResistance #dumptrump #trumpcare #impeachtrump #trumprussia #fakenews #stillwithher #NoBanNoWall #LoveTrumpsHate #Russiagate #Potus #nevertrump #notmypresident #donaldTrumpthemovie #Trumpyourcat

Tips for Live Tweeting Prepare for your event Research Hashtags and Twitter handles of speakers beforehand.  Write them down outside of your phone! Make some educated guesses about what content your audience will find valuable. Bring your charger or a USB power pack. Tweeting is a battery suck. Sit up front so you can take good pictures. Be selective, only share insightful points from the session. Share your perspective. Follow (and use) the hashtag and RT other’s posts. Share a tweet or two after the session when you’ve had time to process.
