UBC Faculty of Forestry proposes to replace an aging and undersized dining hall and kitchen situated at the Loon Lake facility at the Malcolm Knapp Research Forest (MKRF) in Maple Ridge.
Loon Lake then: From humble beginnings… Originally built in 1949

“… where everyone meets after a day of adventure” The Dining Hall today
Upgrade and expansion of the dining hall is critical to the success of the MKRF in meeting its research, education, and self-supporting mandates. Loon Lake is a Community retreat facility for adventure, business, and learning Experiential outdoor education programs for practitioners, university and K-12 Everyone from local youth to visitors from around the world experience our forest at Loon Lake
Project Scope Build new Dining Hall (565 sq.m) with: increased seating to 150 industrial kitchen large outdoor deck Renovation of existing dining hall into a dormitory building.
