Carrie mae Weems Laura Gasparik
Carrie Mae Weems -Winner of the 2013 MacArthur Fellowship also known as the “genius grant” for her photography and video projects. -Her photography works to “debunks racist and sexist labels, examines the relationship between power and aesthetics, and uses personal biography to articulate broader truths”. -Her work was recently featured at the Guggenheim museum in NYC. -Many of her well known projects feature herself in them facing her back to the camera and wearing a black dress.
