Ninety countries in the world are affected by landmines. 20,000 people are killed or maimed by landmines every year.

20% of the world’s population live on less than 20p a day, but this is falling. In 1990 the figure was 28%. The number of people living in poverty is falling most rapidly in Asia. In Africa the figure remains constant.
