A Magnificent Occasion A Missed Opportunity No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion A Missed Opportunity

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates deity invading humanity – Colossians 1:15-19; 2:9.

Colossians 1:15-19 (NASB) 15  He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation. 16  For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities—all things have been created through Him and for Him. 17  He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

18  He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. 19  For it was the Father’s good pleasure for all the fullness to dwell in Him,

Colossians 2:9 (NASB) 9  For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates deity invading humanity – Colossians 1:15-19; 2:9. Jesus is God walking around in a body! God became one of us in order to save us! God became one of us so we could know the Father! Jesus had to become flesh and blood in order to take the place of our sin on the cross.

John 1:14 (NASB) 14  And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw His glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth.

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates eternity invading time – Micah 5:2.

Micah 5:2 (NASB) 2  “But as for you, Bethlehem Ephrathah, Too little to be among the clans of Judah, From you One will go forth for Me to be ruler in Israel. His goings forth are from long ago, From the days of eternity.”

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates eternity invading time – Micah 5:2. God created time but He lives outside of time. To God, everything is in the present, only we humans live in linear time – John 8:58.

John 8:58 (NASB) 58  Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.”

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates eternity invading time – Micah 5:2. God created time but He lives outside of time. To God, everything is in the present, only we humans live in linear time – John 8:58. God willingly was born into the space and time of humanity without giving up eternality. What a magnificent occasion that shows God’s great love for us!

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates when royalty invaded poverty – 2 Corinthians 8:9.

2 Corinthians 8:9 (NASB) 9  For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates when royalty invaded poverty – 2 Corinthians 8:9. How rich is God – Psalm 24?

Psalm 24 (NASB) 1  The earth is the Lord’s, and all it contains, The world, and those who dwell in it. 2  For He has founded it upon the seas And established it upon the rivers. 3  Who may ascend into the hill of the Lord? And who may stand in His holy place? 4  He who has clean hands and a pure heart, Who has not lifted up his soul to falsehood And has not sworn deceitfully. 5  He shall receive a blessing from the Lord And righteousness from the God of his salvation. 6  This is the generation of those who seek Him, Who seek Your face—even Jacob. Selah.

7  Lift up your heads, O gates, And be lifted up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 8  Who is the King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, The Lord mighty in battle. 9  Lift up your heads, O gates, And lift them up, O ancient doors, That the King of glory may come in! 10 Who is this King of glory? The Lord of hosts, He is the King of glory. Selah.

A Magnificent Occasion No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Magnificent Occasion Christmas celebrates when royalty invaded poverty – 2 Corinthians 8:9. How rich is God – Psalm 24? God made it all, He owns it all, and Heaven is His most impressive holding. God lowered Himself so that we might be lifted up and reconciled to Him. God gave up His throne to give us eternity!

No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Missed Opportunity Christmas is also a reminder of a missed opportunity – Luke 2:7.

Luke 2:7 (NASB) 7  And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Missed Opportunity Christmas is also a reminder of a missed opportunity – Luke 2:7. God becoming flesh, the eternal one confining Himself to space and time, the King of Glory becoming poor for our sakes, and we could find no room for Him! From Heaven’s glory to an animal feed trough, He willingly came to connect with us and die for us!

No Room in the Inn Luke 2:7 A Missed Opportunity Have you made room for Him? If there was a knock on your door tonight and a young couple, ready to deliver their first child, stood before you, what would you do?
