SC READY Updates for spring 2016 (Enrich) February 16, 2016

SC READY requires ALL students with IEPs grades 3-8 get information about the test As we noted in the January meeting, the parents of all students with IEPs in grades 3-8 must get some communication about the SC READY. This includes students taking SC-ALT/NCSC, students with no accommodations for testing, and students previously identified as needing accommodations on Aspire.

You must communicate with the parent of every child with an IEP in grades 3-8 Clarifying Addendum – used for all students who have no accommodations, alt assessment, and the same accommodations on SC READY they had on Aspire AR – use this option for any student for whom you hold an AR prior to the SC READY dates IEP Amendment (SR) without a meeting – used for all students for whom you will make changes (taking off or adding) accommodations that are different from Aspire if parent and LEA rep agree to amend without a meeting; use this for all students that currently have oral admin for writing, calculator use, and extended time on Aspire since these are no longer allowable accommodations on SC READY IEP Amendment (SR) with a meeting - used for all students for whom you will make changes (taking off or adding) accommodations that are different from Aspire if you are holding an actual meeting; use this for all students that currently have oral admin for writing, calculator use, and extended time on Aspire since these are no longer allowable accommodations on SC READY As information – there are 4 means to communicate about SC READY with parents. A clarifying addendum will be used for students who have no accommodations (for example, maybe a “speech-only” child), for children taking alt assessment, and for children who have the SAME accommodations on SC READY they had on Aspire. “Same” means “same” not just similar. AR – if you have a student who has an AR due before the SC READY is given (see dates on the BS), you will simply ADD IEP and once the district has received the Enrich update, the info on SC READY will magically appear in the IEP template and just as magically, the IEP template will no longer have info to complete on Aspire. This will only happen after the district gets the update. As of 2/10, we still don’t have it. IEP Amendment (SR) without a meeting will be used for students you need to make changes (adding or taking out) accommodations that are different from the accommodations the student received on Aspire. This option will be used if the LEA rep and parent agree to the changes without a meeting. You can only use this option if the parent agrees to the changes without a meeting. If the parent wants a meeting (will not agree to the changes or requests a meeting), you go with option 4 below. IEP Amendment SR with a meeting will be used for students you need to make changes (adding or taking out) accommodations that are different from the accommodations the student received on Aspire when you do need a meeting. You know your parents and students and you know who will need a meeting and who won’t. Remember that oral admin for writing, calculator use, and extended time are not allowable accommodations on the SC READY even if the student’s IEP has

CAUTION When using options 3 and 4 IEP Amendments (SR) with or without a meeting, remember to complete the IEP Amendment Cover Page and PWN as usual. FOR IEP AMENDMENTS RELATED TO SC READY ONLY, DO NOT GO BACK IN AND CLICK “AMEND” TO THE IEP AS YOU WOULD IN A TYPICAL SR (IEP Amendment) For all other SRs (IEP Amendments), you will go back and click “Amend” to make changes to the IEP When using options 3 or 4 (IEP Amendment with or without a meeting), make sure to complete the IEP Amendment Cover Page and PWN as usual. DO NOT GO BACK INTO THE IEP AND CLICK “AMEND” for the SC READY process. Since the IEP was created and finalized before the update for SC READY, there is no SC READY info attached/part of the IEP template in Enrich. For all other changes you are making that are not SC READY-related, continue to follow the directions on the BS which include clicking “Amend” and making changes in the IEP for a SR (with or without a meeting).

Resources Under Resources – Assessment 2015-16 SC READY FAQ This separate PPT for SC READY only Directions for Enrich are on the BookShelf I’ve already posted general resources regarding SC READY on the BS under Resources – Assessment 2015-16. There is a link on the SDE website to last month’s virtual faculty meeting that has some great generic information about SC READY (types of questions and answers required, for example). Additional information about how to communicate with parents and Enrich directions will be sent out and placed on the BS as soon as the district receives the Enrich update.
