Why is George Stephenson a Great Briton? He is known as the ‘Father of the Railways’ as he was the first man to create a steam locomotive. He revolutionised travel and gave people opportunities to travel faster than they had before. He was the one who created a railway from Darlington to Stockton. Britain made trains for all over the world. He is that important he is on the back of a £5 note.
