Bellwork – 1/11/17 Please write the following in Spanish: 1947 The street is black. The lake is blue. Are you close to the house? 579

Pronoun review Which pronoun goes in each location?

verbs Verbs are actions! They are things that we do. The first verb we are going to talk about today is Hablar. Hablar means “to speak”. But we don’t go around saying things like “I to speak” and “he to speak”. What do we say instead?

An infinitive An infinitive is the verb before we make any changes. Examples include Hablar – to speak Comprar – to buy Pagar – to pay Necesitar – to need Usar – to use Llevar – to wear/to carry/to take along To make these words make sense with each noun who is completing the action (verb), we have to conjugate them.

Steps for conjugating With verbs that end in “AR”, we have to follow simple steps every time to make sure that we are using the verbs correctly. Drop the AR ending from the verb. With “Hablar” we would erase “ar” & it becomes “Habl” Add the appropriate ending (provided below) -o -amos -as X -a -an

Hablar – to speak

Comprar – to buy

Pagar – to pay

Practice the following in your notebooks Llevar – to carry Necesitar – to need Usar – to use

worksheet Due tomorrow.

Practice using these in sentences Laura and Paul need 100 dollars (dolares). Daniel uses the car on Mondays. You carry your sister. Brittany buys a house. Talia speaks English.
