Mark 12.35-44: an acceptable offering While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, “What do you think about the Christ? Whose son is he?” “The son of David,” they replied. He said to them, “How is it then that David, speaking by the Spirit, calls him ‘Lord’? For he says, “ ‘The Lord said to my Lord: “Sit at my right hand until I put your enemies under your feet.” ’ If then David calls him ‘Lord’, how can he be his son?” (Matthew 22.41-45)
Mark 12.35-44: an acceptable offering Don’t be like the teachers of the law worshipping as the done thing Consider the example of the poor widow “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others.” (Mark 12.43) a relationship with God total trust / commitment - not of the purse but the person Jesus has already done the same for us He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed. (1 Peter 2.24) ...it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were redeemed from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. (1 Peter 1.18-19)
