For use with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. Mounted on the on the Web by the Documents Unit Digital Mapping Files Part of the Digital Map Library… For use with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software. Combined with data to generate maps, query relationships, etc. Queen’s has recently joined several digital mapping consortia (e.g. DMTI, Natural Resources Canada), providing access to 1000’s of digital mapping files and related resources.

Mounted on the on the Web by the Documents Unit Census Data 1996 & 2001 Census Data

Survey Analysis on the Web Mounted on the on the Web by the Documents Unit Survey Data Files Survey Analysis on the Web Hundreds of Statistics Canada and others files available… Researchers can generate tables, and test hypotheses “on the fly” “Regular Drinker” Quebec Ontario % % We cannot prove something is true because we cannot test all of the possible exceptions. e.g.All Dogs Bark -- could always find one that can’t bark... And the survey says… more Quebecers are “regular drinkers” than Ontarians.

Survey Data Files Queen’s membership in ICPSR Direct now permits Queen’s researchers to search and download data from an archive of over 15,000 survey data files. We cannot prove something is true because we cannot test all of the possible exceptions. e.g.All Dogs Bark -- could always find one that can’t bark...

100’s of CD-ROMs (Over 1700 tables) 1981 – 1996 Censuses Aggregate Data (Over 1700 tables) 1981 – 1996 Censuses 100’s of CD-ROMs

Public Opinion Data The Documents Unit works closely with CORA – the Canadian Opinion Research Archive. We mediate access to hundreds of Public Opinion files from a variety of sources (e.g. Decima, Environics, CROP, CRIC). Queen’s web-based analysis system (QWIFS) was jointly developed and implemented by CORA and the Documents Unit and is used for both “polling” and “survey” data.
