The learning objectives are: Have a clear understanding of intent of the Strategic Planning Standards and their relationship to Business Functioning Performance Measurement standards To utilize tools to develop integrated plans Review learning objectives. Review any housekeeping items, such as when breaks will occur, where bathrooms are, parking, etc.

Strategic Planning Standards As with the Performance Measurement System, you have to WRITE IT DOWN!!! A written strategic plan: Is developed with input from all stakeholders Reflects current and projected financial position Sets goals and priorities. Is implemented Is reviewed annually and updated for relevance A written strategic plan: Is developed. Reflects current and projected financial position. Sets goals and priorities. [what is identified and tracked through a balanced scorecard? Do staff speak to the same priorities?] Is implemented. Is shared with: Persons served, as appropriate. Other stakeholders, as appropriate. Is reviewed and updated for relevance. ECS 101 - 2014

So… what should inform a Strategic Plan???

Strategic Planning Standards Strategic planning should consider: Expectations of all stakeholders The competitive environment Financial opportunities and threats Your organization’s capabilities Service area needs Demographics of the service area Relationships with external stakeholders The regulatory and legislative environment Technology for efficient and effective operations Information from analyzing performance Does this look a little familiar??? The ongoing strategic planning of the organization considers: Expectations of other stakeholders. The competitive environment. Financial opportunities. Financial threats. The organization’s capabilities. Service area needs. Demographics of the service area. The organization’s relationships with external stakeholders. [ex: educational institutions] The regulatory environment. The legislative environment Expectations of persons served. Do persons served have adequate technology and devices? Do staff? Does strategic planning reflect needs in these areas? Do staff work from the field? Laptops/cell phones. Performance analysis should guide strategic planning. ECS 101 - 2014

So… how do you connect Strategic Planning with Business Functioning Improvement???
