Electrical Transfer of Energy Types of Electrical Circuits Description Description Description Primary Open Closed Types Description Description Description Secondary Electrical Picture Picture Description Description Other Forms Description

Transfer of Energy Energy can not be created or destroyed, it can transfer and change forms: Thermally Mechanically Electrically Electromagnetic Waves

Transfer of Energy No matter what, when energy is transferred there is some form of heat transfer. The amount of heat transfer depends on the type of transfer.

Electrical Transfer When electrical devices complete a circuit. When a battery or generator connect with wires to a set of devices (such as light bulbs) to complete a circuit.

Types of Electrical Energy Electrical energy is a form of energy that can be formed from any form of energy. These sources can be done a variety of ways such as using natural sources (like wind power), nuclear (splitting atoms), or burning fossil fuels (like coal).

Electrical Energy- Circuit An important part of electrical energy is a battery. They play important parts in circuits, as they are the main power source. Batteries store energy, and then transfer it throuhgout the circuit through a series of wires or connectors. Inside the battery is a series of chemical reactions.

Electrical Energy- Circuit The key inside the chemical reactions in the battery is that the energy is transformed into electrical energy known as electricity. The electrical energy leaves the battery, and travels to the light bulb. The light bulb transfers electrical energy into light energy (you see a light).

Open Circuits Any circuit which is not complete Examples: circuits which are manually disconnected circuits which have blown fuses faulty wiring missing components

Closed Circuits When electricity flows from an energy source to the desired endpoint of the circuit. Examples: A complete circuit which is not performing any actual work A circuit connected to a dead battery may not perform any work, but it is still a closed circuit.

Closed Circuit is the way Electrical energy is transferred

Another type of circuit: A battery sends out electrical energy to a speaker. A speaker does not produce light, it produces sound, so it converts electrical energy into sound energy.

Primary Sources of energy The primary source of energy is heat created through burning fossil fuels (such as coal), water power (dams), wind power (wind farms).

Secondary Sources of Energy There are other secondary sources, used to create energy: Windmills Waterfalls Power plants Hydroelectric Plants Solar Pannels

Other forms: Natural Forms: (found naturally in the environment). Lightning produced during storms, produces heat and electricity. Green Energy: does not pollute (like burning coal, or nuclear meltdowns). Solar energy (using the sun) Water energy Wind energy
