What’s Not New? Our mission. We are cONEstoga. We are ONE.

Attendance: the #1 predictor of success at school. “We can’t teach you if you aren’t here.”

If you know you will be gone, contact the school. Parental notes and admit slips.

Behavior: “What you are doing speaks so loudly I can’t hear what you are saying.”

Respect yourself. Respect others. Respect property.

Every profession has its own language. Education has a language of respect. Practice it and use it.

No tobacco. No alcohol. No illegal drugs. Searches are legal.

Cell phones: Are a wonderful invention but an interruption to the educational process.

Cell phones and iPods: Off and out of sight. Never to be used in bathrooms or locker rooms. Not used during the day. Pg. 28

Other items not needed in school: iPods, games, laser pointers, lighters, matches, weapons.

Breakfast and Lunch Programs: Changes to protect the health and safety of everyone. Follow directions.

Conduct yourselves as representatives of Conestoga wherever you go Conduct yourselves as representatives of Conestoga wherever you go. You are the walking advertising for this school.

Those in activities have an even higher standard for conduct. Be known for good sportsmanship at all times.

Computers and Email: You will have access and an account. Protect your privilege. NEVER use a teacher’s computer.

Appearance: How you dress is important. Specific guidance on Page 44 of the Handbook.

Achievement: Honors for those who are the highest achievers. Everyone benefits from doing their best.

Eligibility for Activities Those failing two classes will be ineligible the next week.

Safety and Security Drive carefully. Buckle up! Be careful around buses.

Safety and Security Lock your locker! Protect your combination. Locks don’t guarantee safety.

Safety and Security You don’t have to be a narc, but if you see something suspicious or dangerous, tell a staff member.

How this school looks is important. People spend their lives caring for it. Take care of it.

MYT Cougars

You are one of the mighty MYT Cougars “Once a Cougar, always a Cougar.”

“This is Cougar Territory…”

…Mark Your Territory.”

MYT ark our erritory Cougars

Cougars have a territory…a range…a place where they live and fulfill their life needs. They mark that territory. They establish it as theirs, and they take care of it. They will go to all lengths to see that others don’t invade it, and others respect it.

This is Cougar Territory... When those from the outside come in, cougars fiercely defend what is theirs. This is Cougar Territory... Mark Your Territory.

Cougar Trails and Traits Within their territory, cougars have established trails…places they go. When on those trails there are certain ways they act. Positive Behavior Supports: key ways of “how we do things around here”

we have, and respect the concept of education. Cougar Trails: where it happens Cougar Traits: what should happen Simple reminders that will help us respect each other, respect the things we have, and respect the concept of education.

Respect is the language of education.

Trails: where it happens Traits: what should happen Trails ↓ Traits → Safety Respect Positive Responsibility Classrooms and Learning Areas *Hands and feet to yourself *"4 on the floor" *Push chairs in *Raise your hand to speak *Listen and follow directions *Give your best effort *Encourage others *Set high expectations for achievement *Bring books and homework *Have class materials Trails: where it happens Traits: what should happen

Traits → Trails ↓ Safety Respect Positive Responsibility Lunch Room *Hands and feet to yourself *Walk, don't run *Yield to those with trays *Use quiet voices *Eat the food you take, don't waste *Say 'please' and 'thank you' *Make healthy food choices *Recycle *Leave your table and area clean *Push in chairs and replace tables

Changes you need to know: Lunch Line: We will line up on the east side of the Commons and enter “backwards” of what you are used to.

Changes you need to know: Office: Come to the window on the south side, not into the office door.

Changes you need to know: Gaggle: Gaggle accounts and email are new. More will be explained as time goes on. Free email and electronic storage.

Changes you need to know: Schedules: Poor Ms. Urton! Today if you have a class on your schedule, go to it. If not, come to the Commons. Changes AFTER SCHOOL.
