Thanksgiving Holidays Spelling List 11 Strive Info Night Final stable syllables always make the same sound although they may be spelled in unexpected ways ( t-i-o-n as in nation). Final stable syllables with consonant-l-e are unaccented syllables that fall at the end of a base word. Some believe these syllables make the schwa sound of short u, others argue that there is no vowel sound. stumble tremble noodle handle gargle simple crumple sparkle Before /g/ or /k/ the letter n makes a different sound.
