Overcoming Worldliness

Worldly Meaning: Not necessarily sinful Physical (vs. spiritual) Temporary (vs. eternal) Worldly, earthly, fleshly Not necessarily sinful Earthly temple (Heb. 9:1) Usually set in contrast to spiritual things

Ways Worldliness is Manifested Indulgence Carrying out sinful desires (Eph. 2:1-3) Like Sodom & Gomorrah (Jude 1:7) Like Israel at Shittim (I Cor. 10:8; Num. 25:1) Gain by oppression, self-indulgence (James 5:5)

Ways Worldliness is Manifested Living like there are no consequences Reckless living (Luke 15:13) No resurrection (I Cor. 15:32) Tomorrow is guaranteed (James 4:13-16; Isa. 56:12)
