Can you think of many reasons we need water everyday? Alabama is home to many natural resources such as water, soil, forests, plants, and minerals. Water is an important natural resource. We could not live without you. Can you think of many reasons we need water everyday?

Seasons in AL are neither too hot nor too cold which makes for a long growing season. The Black Belt was excellent for raising cotton, which was once a major crop here. Corn, soybeans, and peanuts are now AL’s major crops. George Washington Carver developed soybean and peanut products.

Trees, such as pines and hardwoods, provide wood to build homes and furniture. Coal, iron ore, and limestone (all raw materials) are used to make steel. Petroleum is used for gasoline (cars), and natural gas is used for cooking and heating. People and groups, such as the 4-H Forestry and Wildlife Club in Coosa County and trying to conserve our natural resources.
