Policy 2340 3.2. ACT COMPASS®. A computer-adaptive test to measure academic readiness for college-level mathematics and English courses.   3.3. ACT EXPLORE®. A norm-referenced test that generates English, mathematics, reading, and science scores for West Virginia 8th graders. In addition, information is collected about students' educational and career plans, interests, high school course work plans, and self-identified needs for assistance. 3.4. ACT PLAN®. A norm-referenced test that generates English, mathematics, reading, and science scores for West Virginia 10th graders. In addition, information is collected about students' educational and career plans, interests, high school course work plans, and self-identified needs for assistance.

Policy 2340   3.6159. West Virginia VDE General Summative Assessment. A customized test consisting of selected criterion-referenced response items used to measure a student's level of achievement of the West Virginia CSOs in mathematics, and English Language Arts/Literacy (ELA), social studies and science in grades 3-11 and science in grades 4, 6, and 10.

Policy 2340 4.85.a.. Effective for the senior class of 2015-2016, Sstudents enrolled in Transition Mathematics for Seniors and/or Transition English Language Arts for Seniors courses in grade 12 who do not meet the placement standards for COMPASS mathematics or writing skills will be excused from taking the mutually agreed-upon assessment retaking COMPASS upon provision of appropriate documentation of the West Virginia general summative assessment, ACT or SAT scores that meet the placement standard(s) prior to the beginning of the COMPASS testing window for the mutually agreed upon assessment.

TESTING INVESTIGATION Larry White Psychometrician/Testing Investigator WVDE Office of Assessment

Written or oral report of alleged cheating, security breach, testing administration breach or copyright infringement is reported to principal/school coordinator or other sources such as WVDE, AIR etc.

Principal/school coordinator or other sources reports allegations or incidents to district test coordinator.

District coordinator informs county superintendent and contacts WVDE Office of Assessment immediately

WVDE Office of Assessment and in conjunction with the WVDE Office of Legal Services reports allegations to the state superintendent of schools

WVDE logs incident into investigation database

WVDE investigative team meets in timely fashion to discuss incident and conduct joint investigation with DC unless WVDE team agrees to an alternate investigative plan.

If directed by WVDE investigative team, the DC conducts personal interviews, obtains written statements, and provides copies of security agreements and Verification of Training documents

The WVDE investigative team reviews statements and documents to determine the level of violation, if any, and a course of action.

LEVELS OF VIOLATIONS

Level 1 - No action from state superintendent but county superintendent may take disciplinary action; courtesy e-mail to DC

Level 2 - No letter from state superintendent but county superintendent/schools may take disciplinary action; e-mail DC and county superintendent

Level 3 - No license revocation but a letter from state superintendent with recommendations. County superintendent may take disciplinary action.

Level 4 - License revocation determined by Office of Legal Services.
