Matthew 26.28: “Poured out for many” blood of the covenant poured out for many everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved a future promise which we can rely on “...the law requires that nearly everything be cleansed with blood, and without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness.” (Hebrews 9.22) - sin is: a) against people - all we can offer God is what he’s given us: our lives But God is not satisfied with that as an answer - in Christ, on the cross, God takes responsibility for our sin - by the blood of the covenant - fulfilling his promise - poured out for many and b) against God - “everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved” (Acts 2.21) “...I will not drink of this fruit of the vine from now on until that day when I drink it anew with you in my Father's kingdom.” (v29)
