Constitutional Convention Well That Didn’t Work Constitutional Convention

Constitutional Convention – May 25, 1787 – September 17, 1787. Meeting of Lawyers, Doctors, Local Government Officials to fix the Articles of Confederation

They were not considered citizens. Native Americans, African Americans (Free or Slave), Or Women were allowed to attend. They were not considered citizens.

Question: How do we create a Government strong enough to preserve order, but not so strong that it would threaten Liberty?

Virginia Plan Government should have 3 Branches. No branch should be stronger than the others

Branches Legislative – Make laws Executive – Enforce laws Judicial – Interpret laws
