Make-Up Work YOU are responsible for making up any missed work while absent. Make-up work or late work will be accepted up to ONE week after the due date with the exception of binder checks and/or TRF sheets. Binder checks and/or TRF sheets must be turned in the next day.

Tardies Being “on time” to class (all classes, not just AVID) means you are in your seat, working and quiet, when the tardy bell rings. If you are tardy to AVID, please come in quietly, sign-in the tardy folder, and begin working promptly on assignment. Please DO NOT disturb others who have already begun their assignment. AVID students are expected to be on time to EVERY class, every day.

AVID Elective Curriculum The AVID Curriculum focuses on Writing, Inquiry, Collaboration, Organization, and Reading (WICOR Strategies). Binders, Planners, and Notes…Oh My! The AVID Binder must remain neat and organized at all times. Binders must be present every day, in every class. Your binder will be checked and graded on certain Fridays throughout the year for organization, neatness, supplies, notes/learning logs, and for use of planner. Planners must be used at all times, and must be present in class daily. Per administration, at this time we will NOT be accepting electronic planners. Peer counselors you will be required to use a planner as well. Use of planner is a school wide initiative I will be requiring 5 Cornell notes every week.

Tutorials & Vocabulary Tutorials are held on Tuesday and Thursday during the AVID elective class time. TAG worksheet You will have vocabulary words this semester but we will not have many quizzes or tests. We will do activities and/or projects.

Community Service & Extracurricular Activities All AVID students must complete a minimum of 25 hours of community service per school year in order to graduate with a minimum of 100 hours. AVID students are required to participate in at least one extracurricular activity outside of AVID. This can be a sport, club, school/church organization, etc. Leadership experience is necessary for college and career readiness. AVID Club
