Welcome back to CASA Volunteer Training Session 2

On the flipchart, write one thing you learned from this week’s online work that you think you will use in your service as a CASA volunteer. Activity 2.17

Family Strengths - Review Pair up and review the list of family strengths you identified during activity 2.2 in your online work. How easy / difficult was it for you to generate your list? Activity 2.18

? Case Study Roles Runner- Retrieves documents from the facilitator Scribe- Writes up recommendations to the court Controller- Keeps the group on track and monitors time ? Questioner- Asks certain questions and ensures each document is discussed before moving on Activity 2.20

Three Questions Three questions need to be answered throughout the case and at every court hearing: Can the child remain or return home? “Removal Findings” If the child is out of the home, where should the child be placed? “Placement Preferences” Is OCS providing appropriate services to the family? “Active/Reasonable Efforts” Activity 2.20

The Greene Case What are your group’s recommendations regarding: Services for the child? Services for the parent? Placement decisions? Activity 2.21

Greene Case Debrief Questions How did the parent’s developmental disabilities play a role in your approach to this case? Were some interviews more beneficial than others?
