New Textbook!!! What are the changes? AP style questions in every section AP style review at the end of every chapter Sections moved forward into chapter 1 and 2 Chapter 2 is more challenging but students will be bet prepared for the AP exam
Typical Day 5-10 mins for HW questions Lesson begins PowerPoint (posted on website for absent students) Theorems: written out with math notation and in words. Examples: Students write, watch, and try Additional Examples provided if needed 5-10 min to start assignment and ask more questions one on one.
Quiz/Test Corrections Prepares students for the AP exam We learn from our mistakes so we don’t make them again
Knuckle Bucks: Promotes critical thinking, participation, taking a risk 10 need to be collected by the end of the semester and extras are extra credit
Classroom Layout Predictions: After practice test is graded and scored, class predicts class average on test Top Hawks: Students that receive and A on the quizzes and tests.
How We Prepare for the AP Exam “AP style” assignment at the end of each chapter Fast track to a 5 AP Questions given in lessons when enough information has been taught. (i.e. 2.3 we went over FR #1a,b but we still haven’t learned enough info for c,d) After Ch. 3, we will start looking at more free response questions and from the AP exams AP multiple choice, on practice tests and similar questions asked on the actual tests. Calculator use introduced starting day 2. AP Flashcards: students use them as we learn them TEST CORRECTIONS!!!
TEST CORRECTIONS!!! Research shows that students learn from their mistakes. Brain Research says that “Math Should be more visual” No partial credit on a multiple choice test, so partial credit is rewarded for completing the problem correctly. AP Exam is scored on a curve that 60% = 5
