Excellence

Becoming really good at something Beating your personal best Achieving a goal It is not only about winning, but about taking part and making a commitment to become better at something.

Why is Eric excellent ? Olympic Athletes Eric Moussambani Eric Moussambani is from Guinea and he represented his country at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He swam his heat of the 100 m freestyle in 1:52 seconds. He had set a new personal best and a national record. Before coming to the Olympics, he had never seen a 50 m long Olympic-size swimming pool. He took up swimming only eight months before the Olympics and had practiced in a 20 m pool at a hotel. Eric never gave up he had a dream and he fulfilled it!

Why is Liam excellent? Liam Tancock Liam Tancock, a British swimmer, broke his own World Record in 2009 and became World Champion at 50m back stroke. Liam strove to be the best in the world at what he does and was looking to conquer his dreams by winning a Gold medal at the London 2012 Olympic Games. He came 5th in the 100m backstroke final. He was disappointed – but he was the 5th best swimmer in the world – 3 year after being world champion.

Usain Bolt Guess who? Who am I? I was born in Jamaica, in 1986. My family business is a local grocery store, which my parents still run. I first wanted to play cricket, and if I wasn’t doing what I am doing now I would be a fast bowler. In the warm up events 1 month before the Beijing Olympics I came second to my fellow country man – Asafa Powell. I didn’t let that put me off – it made me more determined! I hold three world records I am the fastest man on the planet Who am I? Usain Bolt
