Formal Qualifications Natural Born Citizen (not naturalized; do you know the difference?) 35 years of age 14 year resident of the US (more important/applicable in 1787)

Term At the Constitutional Convention the delegates compromised on: 4 year term, unlimited number of terms George Washington and Thomas Jefferson set the 2 term precedent until FDR won 4 consecutive terms (1932, ‘36, ‘40, ‘44), then… 22nd Amendment (1951) limited to 2 terms/10 yrs max

Appoint Dept. Heads (with approval by Senate) Cabinet (Article II, Sec. 2) “…principle officer in each of the executive departments…” 15 departments (only 4 originally) to assist in the administration of the federal government. i.e. State, Treasury, Justice, Defense, Labor, Energy, Commerce, Homeland Security plus 8 cabinet-level positions of advisors i.e. Chief-of Staff, EPA Administrator, Rep to UN, CIA Director
