A. Name: Clean Air Act Draft year: 1990 Amendment years: 1963,1965,1970,1977,1990 Rank: National

B. Description of Function: Under the Clean Air Act the EPA sets standards as to the amount of a pollutant that can be released into the air anywhere in the United States. It provides that all residents receive equal basic health and environmental protections. Furthermore it allows individual states to maintain stronger pollution controls, however, they may not have weaker controls than those that are set by the standard of the country as a whole. Environmental Issues Affected: Air pollution; Regulation on toxins and chemicals released into the environment

C. Agency/Group Responsible for Regulation and Enforcement: **Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
