The Waverley Werewolves www.waverleywerewolves.co.uk The Waverley Werewolves Chapter 11

"We are keeping watch tonight", said Brian "We are keeping watch tonight", said Brian. "If the werewolf appears, I want to see where he goes. We can keep a look-out for an hour at a time."   For the next couple of hours, Brian and Toby took turns beside the bedroom window, looking on to the square. At about midnight, Toby woke Brian up. "There's something on the roof of the building opposite." From the window, they could see a familiar shape on the roof, followed by the sound of howling. "Follow me", said Brian. Keeping close to the walls of the corridor, they made their way quickly to the stairway. They hurried down the stairs to the dimly lit corridor in the basement.

The first two storeroom doors were locked.  "This one is unlocked", said Toby, opening the third door. The room was full of towels, blankets and sheets. Brian pulled the door behind them, leaving it open slightly so they could see into the corridor. A few minutes later they heard the sound of footsteps running down the stairway. A figure, with bulging eyes and enormous teeth, raced along the corridor to the last door. The door opened and closed behind it. Brian and Toby sat silently in the storeroom for about half and hour, before deciding that it was safe to go back to their bedroom. On the first floor they came across Stewart, who was sitting on the stairs.

"Have you been werewolf hunting?", he asked them.   He explained that he had heard the howling and wanted to find out where in the hotel the werewolf might be hiding. "Wherever it is", he said, "it's not on any of the upper floors. I have been guarding the stairs and nothing came this way." "We must have just missed you", said Toby. "As soon as we heard the howling we went down the stairs to the basement." "We saw the werewolf run along the basement corridor and into one of the storerooms", said Brian. "That does not sound like the kind of thing a werewolf would do, if it were a real werewolf that is", said Stewart, "and I am not saying that I believe in werewolves." "Agreed", said Brian, "The others would just laugh if we told them." "I think", said Toby, "the three of us should team up and investigate this."
