When Your Enemy Dies… 2 Samuel 1:1-2:7
Hold him in highest honor. He enquired of Saul’s well-being. He mourned for Saul and Jonathan. He held the Amalekite responsible.
Memorialize his accomplishments. He encouraged people to learn the memorial. He highlighted the good. He emphasized the positive.
Reward those who showed him respect. He was just anointed King. He prayed for God to bless them. He pledged his support to them.
What does that mean to me? Weekly memory verse: 1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said to Samuel, ‘Do not look on his appearance or on the height of his stature, because I have rejected him. For the LORD sees not as man sees: man looks on the outward appearance, but the LORD looks on the heart.’”
God sees very differently than we do.
