Sturgeon Bay Moravian Church Bringing Sunday School Home – David Questions/Themes to consider as a family Talk about the story of David and Goliath and about how a combination of David’s experience as a shepherd and his faith in God prepared him for that encounter. How is God preparing you and strengthening your faith in Him? How did being a shepherd help David to become a good king? Talk about how David was chosen as king. We tend to look at a person’s height, or how fast they are, or how beautiful they are. What does God see instead? How can we become more like God and see people for their heart? Discuss David’s friendship with Jonathan. How can friends help us become better Christians? Digging deeper – questions for parents to consider This will require some effort, but read the first chapter of the book, David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell. The story of David and Bathsheba is always a little embarrassing…like we would rather just skip over that part. However, that was a dark but important moment in David’s life. What can we learn from David’s example about how we can handle our own dark times, or help others with theirs?
