copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd Welcome to our match WA GD WD GK GA GS C C GS GK GD WA GA WD here we have 2 teams: Team Ice and Team Cream copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Choosing the first centre pass WA GD WD GK GA GS C C GS GK GD WA GA WD The two captains agree who takes the first centre pass by tossing a coin. The winner of the toss can choose to either: Take the first centre pass OR Choose the which way they want their team to shoot copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd The first centre pass WA GD WD GK GA GS C GS GK GD WA C GA WD In this match, Team Ice have won the toss and have chosen to take the first centre pass copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

The scorecard The scorecard for our match looks like this: Ice Cream The remaining card is divided into quarters which represent the quarters of the match Each scorer needs to supply a scorecard Tip: A scorecard doesn’t have to be pre-printed, it can be a piece of paper with lines drawn on it There is a place at the top of the scorecard to add the name of each team copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

The scorecard The teams take alternate centre passes At the top of each quarter is a space to show who takes the centre pass during the quarter. Ice Cream Either an “E” (Evens) or an “O” (Odds) is added to each box copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Odds and Evens So, who gets the “E” and who gets the “O”? Ice Cream Before the start of any match, the score is 0 : 0. When added together 0 + 0 = 0 This is shown on our scorecard as an Even number It depends on the score at any point in the match copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd Odds and Evens Ice Cream E O Team Ice have won the toss and will take the first centre pass so an “E’ is added under their name and an “O” is added under Team Cream E O copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Throughout the match Both teams have a scorer. The scorers should stand together benchside out of the umpires way (Benchside is at the side of the court) The scorers should check with each other when each goal is scored to ensure they have recorded the same score Ice Cream E O copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

The scorecard Recording the score Tip: Write the score as numbers , not five bar gates The umpire will signal a goal has been scored by raising their arm in the air Ice Cream E O (numbers are easier to read) When a goal is scored, add a goal to the scoring team side of the scorecard, in the quarter in which it was scored AND cross out the previous score for the team who scored a goal copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Odds and Evens During the match: Tip: In high scoring games just add the last digits, for example: 28 + 37 At any point in the match the scores on each side of the scorecard are added together to decide if the next centre pass is an Even or Odd number Ice Cream E O Add together 8 + 7 To give you an odd (15). (it’s easier than adding the whole number together to get the odd number 65) copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Odds and Evens During the match: Both umpires will signal who is taking the next centre pass Ice Cream If they disagree, they will ask you to confirm who should take the centre pass. You will be able to do this by adding the scores together and comparing it to which team is Evens and which team is Odds E O copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Odds and Evens During the match: If both umpires agree but their decision doesn’t match your card, you need to call to them to stop time so the scorecard can be checked Both umpires will signal who is taking the next centre pass Ice Cream E O You need to do this quickly so it’s really important that you watch the game carefully copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

1 2 3 4 Quarter 1 Back to our match, the first quarter scorecard starts like this: Team Ice score a goal, Ice Cream E O 1 1 1 2 then: Team Cream then: Team Cream copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Throughout the match Calling out the score For example, call out Start with the team which is taking the centre pass Ice Cream For example, call out “Cream centre, 2,1” (The centre is calculated as 2+1 = 3 (odds) so it is Cream’s centre) E O 1 1 1 2 2 3 If Cream score the next goal call out “Ice centre, 1,3” (Ice are Evens) copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Quarter 1 In the first quarter, Team Ice score a goal, Team Cream 2 3 4 Quarter 1 In the first quarter, Team Ice score a goal, Ice Cream then: Team Cream E O 1 1 2 1 1 2 2 3 3 4 Team Cream Team Cream Team Ice Team Cream The score at the end of the first quarter is 2 : 4 to Team Cream copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

1 2 3 4 Quarter 2 At the start of the next quarter, the scorecard looks like this: The scores are brought down to the second quarter space Ice Cream Usually, the team who started as Even in the previous quarter starts the next quarter as Odd and E O 1 2 1 2 3 4 O E 2 4 the team who started as Odd in the previous quarter starts as Even This is to ensure the centre continues to be taken alternately copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd

Odds v Evens The Evens / Odds exception Ice Cream The Centre passes at the start of each quarter might, for example look like this If a goal has been scored just before the whistle is blown for the end of the quarter AND before the next centre pass is taken, the Odd and Even markers do not change sides (to keep the centre passes alternate) E O O E O E O E copyright 2016 Franc Concepts Ltd
