Solar Energy: Is there a specific direction solar panels should face? By: Rachel

Introduction Today I got to visit two places where they used solar panels to make electricity. When you think of solar panels you think of the giant panels you put on your roof. There is a lot more to it then you think.

Northern Hemisphere If you live in the northern hemisphere you want them to face south. South facing panels will get more sunlight.

Southern Hemisphere If you live in the southern hemisphere you will want your solar panels to face north. This is because it will gather more sunlight.

What about facing east or west? In the northern hemisphere east facing panels will gather sunlight in the morning and west facing panels will collect sunlight in the afternoon.

Is that it? No way! There is sooooooo much more you need to consider like cost, position, and how many panels you will get before you can go buy solar panels.
