All students in advanced science will be required to complete a science research paper/log. This will be an important part of their 1st and 2nd quarter grades.

Science Research Paper The research paper will be completed in ‘chunks’ according to a timeline posted on the research webpage. This page also contains helpful guidelines to use throughout the process. BE SURE TO SIGN AND RETURN ACKNOWLEDGEMENT SLIP.

The problem statement is due September 22 after students have submitted 5 project ideas to conduct an experiment. One idea will be chosen. See the Research Paper weblink for helpful assistance throughout the research process.

The background research must include TEN (10) different sources with notes hand written in ink in their research log. A bibliography for each source is listed at the top of the page of notes.

Please be sure to visit the Research Paper website page for helpful tips and guidelines regarding each ‘chunk’ of the research process.

The completed log book is due: December 5, 2017

Extra Credit Check the homepage Extra Credit box for ongoing opportunities. In addition to extra credit, students have won Red Ribbon Week Ipod3, Broward Air Quality Control calendar & prizes, P3Eco environmental challenge prizes, and RASMUS Marine Science Workshop attendance at UM!

Last year Pioneer Middle was rated an A school for the 15th year in a row! With the effort and dedication of the teachers at Pioneer, your child is in very good hands.

(and I sincerely appreciate your support if an issue ever arises!) WORKING TOGETHER, WE CAN MAKE YOUR CHILD THE BEST S/HE CAN BE! (and I sincerely appreciate your support if an issue ever arises!)

It was wonderful to meet you tonight, and I look forward to a successful and memorable year.

In closing, did you know that in July Cooper City became the 103rd city in the NATION to become a National Wildlife Certified Community? Won’t you consider certifying your yard? Fliers are available on the tables and Butterfly handouts are on the counter as you exit. Contact me if you certify so we can add your home to the map on the board!
