Introduction Why have Report Services reports Fundamental design techniques What is common across the reports Subject Areas Demonstration Summary

Why Have RS Reports Report Services was selected in 2005 It was expected MSFT would make it pervasive It was the only RDL based reporting solution More were expected to evolve It was bundled with SQL Server 2005 Low cost solution for MSFT platform The reporting tools market was fragmented and still is It is intended to demonstrate what is possible It was NOT intended to be “finished” product When combined with Dundas the results were reasonable for the time, 2006 Reports stabilised in favour of data model development

Fundamental Design Techniques All objects were to refer to the custom assembly All calls were to refer to SPs The reports were to be customisable at run time as much as was possible Multiple languages to be supported from a single base Multiple currencies to be supported Multiple countries to be supported Maps to be supported We wanted a demonstration that showed what could be done with a little thought on Report Services Allowing the client to use other tools over our models

Subject Areas Campaign Analysis Sales Analysis Segmentation Analysis
