Research to answer the following questions regarding the puritans What is their view of God? What are their values? How do they define truth? Do they have an optimistic or pessimistic view of life? Cite your evidence What are their views of work and worldly success? What is their view of society? Who is their authority? What is their view of education? Do they view man as inherently good, evil, or somewhere in between? Cite your evidence

Read the excerpt from The New England Primer Read the excerpt from The New England Primer. Discuss with your shoulder partner the purpose of reading according to this book. How widespread was reading meant to be? What is the image of God and religion presented by the primer?
