Science and Engineering Education for Innovation FEMCIDI PROJECT CONCEPT Country submitting the Project: GRENADA

PROJECT GOAL To stimulate consistent socio economic growth of the Eastern Caribbean countries through innovation in Science and Technology contributing to the development of micro, small and medium size enterprises

PURPOSE Improving the quality of Science and Technology Education and Research in the colleges and universities of the Eastern Caribbean and increasing the number of students qualifying for university entry in Science and Engineering.

EXPECTED IMPACT The quality of Science and Engineering Education in the Eastern Caribbean Community Colleges will contribute significantly to the transformation of Caribbean economies through collaboration with each other. Such collaboration will be achieved across national and regional universities of the CARICOM , through international exchanges and public-private sector partnerships.

EXPECTED IMPACT Backward and forward linkages between primary and secondary schools to stimulate an excitement and interest in Science and Technology. Review of the curricula to ensure the study and application of sustainable Energy Science and inclusion of Engineering in the tertiary education Science and Engineering programmes

IMPLEMENTATION APPROACH Training of teachers - exposure to a wide range of resources available through traditional modalities, as well as through the use of ICT; Exposure of High School and College students to development possibilities, particularly in the area of renewable energy and other areas of sustainable development; exploration of how this all affects the economies of communities; Encouragement of innovation as a part of learning Science and Technology.
