Triangle Trig Trashketball

Groups of 5! When a question comes up, each person must work it out on their own paper. EVERY teammate must have the correct work and answer on their paper to get an opportunity to shoot. One point from the front edge of Ms. T’s desk, two from the back of it, and three from the door. Teams must rotate shooters.

Question 1 In Triangle XYZ, <Y is a right angle and sin(X) = 20/25. Find cos(X) in fraction and in decimal form. Round to the nearest hundredth if necessary.

Question 2 Solve for x. Round to the nearest tenth. 59 x 55⁰

Question 3 Find the measure of angle B to the nearest tenth of a degree. B 64.6 60 A C 24

Question 4 In Triangle ABC, <C is a right angle. Find all remaining sides and angles if sides a = 3.4 and c = 5.8.

Question 5 B Find the measure of angle B. 4 m 49⁰ C A 9 m

Question 6 Find b to the nearest tenth. C 31 b 42⁰ 64⁰ B A

Question 7 A small plane is approaching an airport. The angle of depression from the plane is 40⁰. If the plane is 8000 feet horizontally from the airport, how high is the plane flying?

FINAL QUESTION: WORTH DOUBLE! A farmer is estimating the surface area of his barn to find how much paint he needs to buy. One part of the barn is triangular as shown. b a 30⁰ 30⁰ 22 m Find the length of the sides a and b. Find the area of the triangle.
