GRADES Daily Work-50% Test and Projects- 30% Nine Weeks Exam-20% Grades will be posted on a weekly basis on the bulleting board so that students can track their progress.

Exceptional work is entered in contests throughout the school year! Daily grades are given based on your participation for each workday. A “0” will be given for work not done on that day. Your attendance is part of your daily grade. Unexcused absences are marked as “0” and will be changed once the work is made up and turned in. I encourage students to speak to me if they have been absent and need to make-up work.  Major project grades are based on creativity, following directions, and craftsmanship (how neatly/professionally your work is done). Final exams are either written or based on final critique. Exceptional work is entered in contests throughout the school year!

How to Succeed in This Course: * Always have a pencil and other materials available in class. * You are expected to be working in class every day. If you tend to work slowly, plan to spend time outside of the class completing work. * If you are responsible for ruining someone else's work, you will receive a "0” on your own work. * There is a "hands-off" policy regarding work done in this classroom by other people both from your class and from other periods. Look and enjoy but don't touch. * Working on someone else's project is not allowed. * Don't let your mouth move faster than your brain. Think before you speak. * Talking with each other while working is permitted within certain boundaries as long as they follow the rules above.

Be on time Students must be in their assigned seat by the tardy bell. Tardy Policy As per school policy students who are late to class more than 3 times will be referred to the office (REFERRAL).

No food or drinks allowed

No electronic devices allowed during instructional time NO CELL PHONES, iPods, PSPs, or any other electronic devices allowed. Items used during instructional time will be picked up and turned into the office.

RESTROOM POLICY It is the student’s responsibility to use the restroom before class. Restroom passes should be used for emergencies only. No passes the first and last 10 minutes of class!

My number one rule in art is "To Try Your Best My number one rule in art is "To Try Your Best." I don't expect perfect artists, but I do expect artists that always do their personal best. I believe that all students can create art, but they need to follow classroom rules to be able to do this. Behavior that interferes with the overall climate of the classroom will not be accepted. In order for all students to have the best chance to learn and create art, the following classroom expectations and rules/procedures will be in effect at all times. Rules/Procedures 1. Follow directions the first time that they are given. 2. Respect others and their art. Listen when someone else is talking and have your eyes on them. If it's not yours don't touch it (unless you are given permission). 3. Keep your hands and feet to yourself. 4. Use art materials properly. Only use the specified material. 5. Everyone is responsible for cleaning up their work space. 6. Use your own ideas (no copyrighted material can be used in art work). 7. Work at your own table (follow the seating chart). You should not be wandering around the room visiting with your friends. 8.  Electronic devices (ipods, headphones, cellphones, etc) are not permitted in the classroom unless the internet is needed for an assignment and only when I give students permission to use it.

The bell does not release you, I DO! Students must remain in their seat until teacher releases the class. Classroom must be in order and clean before dismissal.

Adhere to ALL school rules and policies http://www.sisd.net/cms/lib/TX01001452/Centricity/Domain/1238/principalNewsletterAugust.pdf
