Comets May 7, 2004 Icy bodies left over from formation of Solar System Possibly brought water & organic material to early Earth.
Comet NEAT. Comets Small icy objects that orbit the Sun… 1-10 km Nucleus of ice coated with dark organic material (dirty snowball) Short period.

BY: IAN + SHAE. What is a Comet? Small solar system body Small solar system body Displays coma (a thin, fuzzy, temporary atmosphere) when close enough.
Other parts of the solar system. Comets Small body of ice, rock and dust loosely packed together that orbits the sun.

COMETS What are Comets? Made of ice, rock, and other organic materials. Has Nucleus, coma, and two tails (dust and ion/plasma tail) Nucleus is actual.
Solar System By Lizzie.. The Stars and our Sun Define a star? Right here- A star is a fixed luminous point in the sky that is a large remote glowing body,
Small Body Objects. Comets Chunks of ice and rocks that originate from the outer solar system and ort cloud. Structure: – Nucleus – solid core or rock.
SOLAR SYSTEM BY BRISA Stars and our Sun The definition of a star is a ball of gas that gives off light and heat. It has the same body like the sun. Stars.
Asteroids Cristal Locke Catch a falling star!.
In this lesson, we are going to be comparing comets, meteors, and asteroids which are found in the Solar System.

What are Comets? Icy bodies Orbits Snow line Atmophile Solid material Sublimates Atmosphere

Comets? Outer reaches of the kuiper belt Source Short period comets Releases gas and dust Solar wind

Short period comets Orbital periods Time scale Human history 200 years or less

What are Comets? Solid Bodies Icy and silicates components Inner Solar system Active Begins to sublimate

Comet Structure Nucleus- contains Solid ices and dust sized grains of refractory material. Coma- the atmosphere of water vapor and CO2 that sublimates from the nuclues. Dust tail- smoked sized Particles and 10 million km long. Gas Tail- using the solar wind and interplanetary magnetic field they form a Ion or a Gas tail.
