Process Introduce to writing project using a Mini-quest. This gives students a purpose and helps with motivation Use Kidspiration for Web - Using Kidspiration is useful for mapping out ideas in a visual format; and it is easy to change ideas if needed. Web sample Create outline form in Kidspiration - converting a graphic organizer to a linear outline gives students a chance to verify their sequencing and to further revise their work. Outline Output to a word processor (Open Office,Word) to revise and edit – Use a word processor to finish revising and to edit their work. Exported Outline Publish on class web site - The final step is to output the text document to a web page format. This allows teachers to publish students work on a class web site for everyone to see. This final step is important as it gives students a sense of accomplishment.
Mini-Quest Introduction Task Process: first paragraph – introduction You are the mayor of a small town. The people in your town want to dedicate the front page of their newspaper to you for all the hard work you've done for the town. The problem is, since the only town reporter is sick at home with a flu, you have to write the article. Task Write a five- paragraph autobiography first paragraph – introduction 3 body paragraphs last paragraph - conclusion Process: make a web in Kidspiration about you. You will need at least three (topic sentences) convert your web to an outline export your outline to a word processor fill in the details for the topic sentences include an introduction paragraph include a conclusion paragraph (hint: use your introduction paragraph, just change it a little bit)
