Global Handwashing Day 2011 activities & materials Manual for regions

Introduction Today buying decisions are more and more based on responsibility and sustainability. Product and price are not the only things that matter anymore. This trend will even increase in the future. This brief manual presents marketing elements that are available for regional marketing and gives tips for using them effectively. The responsibility of regional marketing is to: handles adaptations, translations and local marketing activities arranges local events and customer visits 7/18/2018

Why a Kids programme? Helping children to memorize handwashing with simple exercises and funny characters. The Kids' task book includes useful information about why, when and how hands should be washed. There are a lot of different, fun activities to be carried out in the classroom, in school surroundings and at home with parents. The Teacher’s Manual includes more in-depth information intended for educators. All this information will be available in the web to read, download and print. The marketing elements presented in this manual are available for regions in Katrin Material Library. GHWD 2011 is the first outcome of the "Kids Programme" that can be easily extended in the future. 7/18/2018

Internet banners Banners are most effective on sites where teachers, school principals and other school personnel as well as parents visit on regular basis. Media for banners can be bought but they can also be offered to retailers and distributors for free so that they can place them on their home pages. Good and useful sites for banners are for example wholesale and retail sites offering: office utilities school utilities institutional kitchen utilities hygiene utilities 7/18/2018

Posters Posters are mainly meant for internal use. Posters can be placed on office walls office doors public lobbies office windows In addition to using posters in Katrin's own offices, they can be sent to offices of partners and distributors. 7/18/2018

Advertisement templates Advertisement templates are meant to be used as guidelines for print advertisements. Note that because sizes and formats vary, these serve as examples of execution. Press releases Press releases offer relevant info about our campaign to different media. There's a long and a short version of the press release. Remember to send them both so that the editors can decide which one they use. Email templates Direct emails are a personal and informational way to approach customers. Direct emails are meant to be sent to some or all of the following receivers: school principals school personnel dealing with hygiene issues regional school governance representatives 7/18/2018

Stickers Stickers are mainly for internal use. Stickers can be glued to: notebooks laptops briefcases or to be used as handouts and flyers Used this way, they are visible for customers during meetings and sales presentations. 7/18/2018

Events Events are easy and fun way for children to learn about good hand hygiene. Events are very important marketing tool since they also interest media and local companies. Easy and effective way to organize an event is to cooperate with local schools daycare centers sport clubs hobby clubs afterschool clubs hospitals and health care centers 7/18/2018

Event example #1 Participate on local sport event Good exercise is very important for children but so is dealing with your personal hygiene after sports. Participate on local sport events to promote importance of good hygiene after sports. This can be done for example by offering hygiene related prizes for children by sponsoring the event by promoting hygiene with handouts and flyers by promoting hygiene with booth on the event site by offering portable washrooms and toilets for the event 7/18/2018

Event example #2 Hygiene lectures on schools Organize a lecture for local school to promote hygiene issues in a fun and activating way. Lecture should take 1-2 hours and can include Short and entertaining lecture about germs and hand hygiene with videos and pictures bacteria bingo with prizes hygiene pop quiz with prizes hygiene poster workshop 7/18/2018
