University of Texas Mobile Library Search Application Architecture Ramona Broussard, Yongyi Zhou, and Matthew Lease {ramona, yzhou, ml} @ ischool.utexas.edu Application Architecture Overview The library community should have a detailed understanding of the capabilities and costs associated with developing access applications for mobile devices. We designed, built, and evaluated a prototype catalog Mobile access application for University of Texas library catalog based on the Google Android mobile platform. Prototype The prototype is a standardized application based on our background research. The prototype is designed using the free and open-source Android platform, a Java-based programming language. Components A search page. A results list. A detailed item view. A scan option. Save the book to a list. Map the book location.
