Miscellaneous Notes about Users If the user is being set up specifically for an Ad-Hoc or Special Event site, do NOT check the Pull from Office, instead change the SIDN value for the user to the SIDN of the Ad-hoc site. Districts will have to make their own decision about restricting counselors to use of the Guide Me feature. New counselors should probably be restricted until they have gained a reasonable level of experience. Experienced counselors should not be restricted. When a counselor uses the same email address and cell phone at multiple sites, additional configuration is required. The default security template for the Site Administrator is to not assign a template. A preparer with no security template by default has ALL privileges. TaxSlayer recently added the capability to change a return marked as “Complete” back to “In Progress”. Unfortunately they used a negative implementation in the Security Template. Site Admin might need a custom template Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017
Multi-site Admin Group Administrator TaxSlayer documentation often refers to Multi-Office Administration Permits sharing of Customized security templates Customized questions Return tags Customized print sets Custom Credits Consent Forms Optional Taxpayer profile Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017

New Preparer Restricted Capabilities Can do current year only Can not change returns status Can not do peer review Can not send return to IRS Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017
Changing Return Status “Cannot Change Return Status Back to In Progress” works with “Deactivate Return”. Only returns with status of “In Progress” or “Review Failed” can be deactivated. Ability should be restricted to those with Admin level privileges. Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017
Peer Review Capability “Review Returns and Mark Review Decision” belongs to individuals who will act as QR. Its use depends on the QR procedure used by a site: If the site is set up so that the client goes to the reviewer, then the reviewer should have Site Manager Privileges and preparers do not need this privilege. If the reviewer comes to the client and they log on with their own ID then only Site Managers and Experienced Preparers need this privilege. This is based on the assumption that new preparers do not do QR. If the reviewer does the review using the preparer’s ID, then everyone needs this privilege. Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017
Send Return to IRS CA2 recommends that the “Send Return to IRS” privilege be assigned only to the site’s ERO and other Admin level personnel. It is not for reviewers or counselors If a District does allow experienced preparers to submit e-files, it should be blocked initially for new preparers. When using a designated ERO, the designated individual should have either the “Site Manager” or “Superuser” security template assigned. Tax-Aide Policies and Procedures – TY2017
